Jeffrey Toobin is a staff writer at The New Yorker, senior legal analyst at CNN, and the authors of such best-sellers as Too Close to Call: The Thirty-Six Day Battle to Decide the 2000 Election, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President, and The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

Jim Newton has been with the Los Angeles Times since 1989. He covered federal law enforcement and the Los Angeles Police Department from 1992 through 1997, a period that included the 1992 riots, the federal trial of the LAPD officers who beat Rodney King, and the murder trial of O.J. Simpson. In 2001, he was named California Government and Politics Editor. He was named Editor of the Editorial Pages in April, 2007. Newton has written thousands of newspaper and magazine stories and is the recipient of numerous awards. He contributed to The Times' reporting on the 1992 riots and the 1994 wildfires, both of which earned Pulitzer Prizes for the staff. His book, Justice For All: Earl Warren and the Nation He Made, was published in 2006 to widespread critical acclaim.
