Participant(s) Bio

Jane Mayer is the co-author of two best-selling narrative non-fiction books, Landslide: The Unmaking of the President, and Strange Justice: The Selling of Clarence Thomas, both of which received glowing reviews and were book-of-the-month-club selections, and the latter of which was a finalist for the National Book Award. She is a Washington-based staff writer for The New Yorker, specializing in political and investigative reporting. Before that, she was a senior writer and front page editor for The Wall Street Journal, as well as the Journal's first female White House correspondent.

Jon Wiener is a contributing editor to The Nation magazine and a professor of history at the University of California - Irvine, where he specializes in recent American history. His books include: Historians in Trouble: Plagiarism, Fraud and Politics in the Ivory Tower; Gimme Some Truth: The John Lennon FBI Files; Professors, Politics and Pop; and Come Together: John Lennon in His Time. Wiener hosts an afternoon drive-time radio program on KPFK-90.7 FM in Los Angeles, a listener-supported Pacifica network station, where his show features interviews on politics and culture.
